I try my best to eat conciously. Keeping my refined and processed foods to a minimum, eating whole foods and lots of organic fruit and veg. I am a vegetarian.

I want my girls to eat similar. Except for the vegetarian part!

I know that chicken commerical feed is good, in that it's balanced, however............ I wouldn't want to eat a pellet,... each and every day of my life.

I live in Guam which is a territory of the USA. We are situated in the western pacific. It is tropical here, hot all year round. 75 - 90 each and every day.

My flock is fenceless freerange
Cockfighting is legal here and big business.
I have lived here 9 years (from NZ) and have never been to a cock fight, ... say no more.
There is alot of Red jungle fowl running around wild, left overs from the cock fighting I guess.

So here's what I am feeding my 7 girls and the wild rooster (gallus gallus Red Jungle Fowl) who has so kindly offered to escort the ladies.

24/7 Nutrena Calienta maintainer 15% protien.
This contains 8 ingredients
corn
milo
wheat
sunflower
safflower
oat groats
pea
pellet of some sort

In the morning I put out 1 cup of this mix ( mixed in cayanne pepper)

Flax seed
sunflower seed
seseme seed
pumpkin seed
rolled oats (just because they love it)
Neygar seed
canary seed
millet seed

Once a week they get

homemade yogurt (Organic milk low fat )
or soy milk with probiotics.

meat or fish scraps. (i have to buy this for them and the dog, as we don't eat meat ourselves.)

Fruit ( locally grown - papaya, banana, watermelon, mango)

I have never used (but will if I ever have to) chemical wormers.

I check each birds poop daily for worms. I have never seen any signs yet.

I used ACV in their water at all times.
Plus they have oyster shell 24/7

The breeds and egg count is as follows

1 Sebright 1 1/2 years old 5 eggs a week or none at all. She is very broody ( I thought Sebright were suposed to lay 1 egg a week and not be broody)

3 Austrolorps 5 eggs a week except when molting, then a few less.

Red sex link, not laying yet, just about though.

Barred rock 5 eggs a week.

So over to you, your thoughts please

And here are some pics of my grils

I see nothin g wrong with what you feed. I have never read my Nutrena bag, but I can only guess that it is MUCH different that what we get here by the list of ingredients you gave.
I personally feed a game bird layena feed, which is a crumble, however, I also add it seeds: Safflower chips, sunflower hearts, rolled oats, rolled barley, flax and wheat. They eat every bite they have and do not waste even the crumble. They are stronger and healthier.

Yes they are healthy.
I have no children or vices, so I splash out an addition 25 a month on the chickens.
The boys at work think it is time for an intervention... lol , because I talk about the chickens all the time
