I lost 2 guineas yesterday

These birds are so stupid!

Anyway, my guineas, turkeys and meat birds all free range at my farm. In one of the empty horse stalls I keep the feed in plastic garbage cans. One of the lids had a small crack in it the day before yesterday. I made a mental note that I needed to get a new lid.

I went to the farm last night to feed everyone and tuck them into bed. When I walked in the barn I could hear a turkey in the feed can. It jumped on the lid and the small crack turned into a big hole.

It is kind of dark in the barn so I could make out a turkey and a guinea sitting in the can. I pulled them out and what I thought was feed was actually more guineas. There was 15 guineas and 1 turkey in the feed can. The 2 guineas on the bottom were dead.

I love these birds but they are all so darn stupid!!

That is kind of funny in a sad way. why and how did they all decide to go in to the can like that! Reminds me of the lemmings game where all the lemmings followed each other no matter where it was.

yea guineas can be stupid. i have 7 that free range and they fly/jump into the open top pen attached to the trailer and then can't figure out how to get back out!

i usually have to go open the door for them.

then the others i keep in a pen get ou once in a while thru a hole and can't get back in thru where they come out.

the wire is old and we are slowly replacing it... so they find the breaks for us.
