i lost my roo today

My chicken come out of their coop when the sun comes up. When I got hone today I found Pete (rir roo) in the duck pond dead. I didn't think chicken would get into the pond

I don't know how deep your pond is. Chickens like water. Unlike ducks, chickens cannot swim and do not float on the water as do ducks because they don't have the heavy oil coating on the feathers. I watch my chickens in the rain. They slowly become saturated with water. The ducks that I have seen do not get wet when exposed to water.
