So, I lost one of my hens today. They free range during the day and when I went out, I found them hiding under a fir tree next to their coop. The victim had blood on her side but was otherwise normal & in tact. One of her sisters had some dried blood under her wing that we're assuming came from the victim. We didn't see any signs of blood on any of the beaks. Any thoughts on what could have happened? I've put the remaining 2 hens back in the coop as a safe measure. They're nerves were understandably jangled! This was my first loss and I'm taking it pretty hard. Great way to start the week!
