I lost two!

Is it possible the chicks simply got separated/lost track of? I have a momma hen (Bless her) That tries her best to be a mom but is a complete airhead and will leave chicks she doesn't see. She hears them but doesn't seem to care if she doesn't see them, meanwhile the chick is stuck in a bush or a hole or outside

We looked and listened. One tried to go through the middle of a roll of chicken wire the other day. Mama patiently sat there clucking to it, encouraging and sounding like a homing beacon. It took several minutes for it to get itself out. I can't imagine she would leave any behind.

Don't beat yourself up over it, stuff happens.......was just trying to figure out what took them. I doubt a cat could take two unless it had plenty of time to come back for the 2nd one.
Could have had time for two depending on how far it went before it ate it.

Someone on a fb page said she caught a squirrel killing her chickens. Our squirrels seem to stay away and go eat scratch when they birds move to other parts of the yard
Do you think it could be a possibility? (I just posted a thread asking that on the predator/pest page.)
