I love being entertained by ducks

gofasterstripe - I know what you mean!! I have two ducklings a week old today and they're in my room, can hear them pecking and pulling at the news paper, getting comfy and constantly peeping for ages!!!!

If a young turkey does wander into the yard one day it better wander right over to the chopping block and then into the stewpot!!!
Remember Thanksgiving is coming and with 4 Runner Drakes that just shifts the menu a little.

Well, I do have to be honest here. Hubby has been on the chicken board long before me. It's his fault that I'm hooked on the birds.

Although, I was the one that brought home the ducks

. Then again, he was the one that always said he wanted runner ducks.

Sounds just like my household! Hubby and I are both hooked, but I am the only one who admits to it

and HE said he didn't want any ducks - Pah, what nonsense! He sits out in the swing chair with me, feeding them mealworms (which he orders himself online) and making sure the chickens don't greedy up more than their fair share! I even caught him catching slugs for the ducks last week - a slimy job I thought only I had the stomach for!

I can't wait to introduce the family to ducks eggs - they will appreciate the little paddlers even more!

ejctm, we may be mirror images of each other. I wanted chickens so we bought some older ones. They were so cool......... still are

Hubby sees an ad on Craigslist and we planned on getting about 5 more hens, Easter Eggers. Ok I thought. Ended up with 12 straight run. All roosters but 1

Then he sees an ad for French Black Copper Marans so we get 8, straight run, 2 were hens

He tells me they are MY chickens

As time goes by he tells me about Indian Runner Ducks. I see an ad and bought 6, straight run, 2 are girls

Ok, so we don't have luck with straight run.

But I still love MY birds

It's funny how the men won't admit to liking the birds just as much

I hope you have better luck with straight run then we did. Yes, hubby does go out and toss them treats

Although, we don't have slugs here.
