I love hardware cloth!

I just have to say how happy I am with the hardware cloth we used over our entire small run and coop openings. Every night we've got raccoons all around the place and the hens are safe. I think overkill is a good thing when it comes to predator proofing. It was expensive and a pain to install, but knowing our pets won't be ripped out of their coop in pieces is a wonderful thing.

Just be sure to periodically check where the wire is fastened to your wood, etc. I noticed the other day that some of my wire on my run's roof had loosened up over the winter. There's now a small gap, large enough for me to put a couple of fingers through. If I can do that, so could a racoon.

I love hardware cloth too; its on EVERYTHING thats exposed to the outside; its expensive, but its cheaper than replacing my Silkies...
