Roofing to make the house waterproof.im still in the thinking process. but I was thinking. basically it'll be like an coop + run . then the rooftop will be closed from all sides. or just. A very large run. where I also bring them grass and enrichment. I'm assuming chickens cant just be let “grazing” around in our local park as catching them would be impossible even though we're thinking of hand taming them ? I'm not sure what EPDM or bitumen is. ill look into it. thanks
Yes, you really need more thinking ahead. And other important matters; How many chickens do you have in mind? How is your climate? Where do you live?
How much space do you have on the roof?
Is there a possibility to make a coop + run in the park?
Realise how much work it is every day/every week , year in year out for maintenance. Strong chickens can live up to approximately 15 years. Laying hybrids up to 8.
How do you protect the chickens from too much sun? What happens in a storm? Is the roof strong enough to attach a construction? Put a lot of sand on top?
Maybe it’s best to read some articles on housing (coop and run) on BYC and watch a few videos on Youtube and make a more solid plan (or skip the plan and search/volunteer on children’s farm or an allotment with chickens where they can use s few extra hands).
