This is my main rooster, Buddy. He's about a year old (hatched april/may 2025). I'm so proud of him as a rooster. He's so gentle with the hens! They don't run away when he wants to cover them, and he always lets them eat and drink before he does. I think his mother is a Golden Laced Wyandotte, and his father is a BYM. When he was little, he'd let me pet him (doesn't like that anymore) and he still eats out of my hand from time to time. Never made a move to be mean to me or the hens. No real point to this thread, he's just a good boy

Cooper (Black Copper Maran) was supposed to be dinner, but I put it off a little too long and he started to follow me like a puppy. He stopped once he integrated into the flock, but he still is the friendliest with me. He's also probably the most gentlemanly of the four and can be seen escorting hens if they feel anxious.
Bandit
Bandit (3/4 Ayam Cemani) is the most vigilant cock, often hopping into things to get a better view. He and Baeman watch the sky for hawks and kites, our most common predator, and one of the first to call an alarm if he spots something suspicious.
Baeman
Baeman is half Ayam Cemani and half Speckled Sussex, the only son I have of my cockerel Batman who was killed not long after I moved to this property. A friend loaned me an incubator and I got three black chicks: Baeman, Highbrow, and Helena. Baeman is currently the #1 cock.
Rorus
He's got some Cemani and some Partridge Rock for sure. He's the youngest and a little, well, "cocky" at times with the girls, but he's not too rough overall (in part because the other three stop him). His coloring is what I'm aiming for in my flock.
Of the four, only Baeman and Bandit have ever been on the naughty list because they formed a gang with two other roosters and harassed the hens as a group (and by "harass", I mean they mounted her one after the next). It was a very short lived reign of terror that ended with the removal of two of the group.
They are all so gorgeous! I enjoyed reading their little descriptions too. I don't have any good boys at the moment, (I don't have any chickens right now except some hatching eggs) But, this was the good boy I used to have....
Roosty
He was attacked by a dog, thankfully he didn't lose much other than his dignity (tail). He was always dutiful in watching over the girls. He tried showing them all where to lay eggs and called them for treats but Muffin (gray) was the only one who seemed to pay him any mind.
He got bossed around by Gingersnap and Butterscotch seemed indifferent to him. He wasn't people friendly but he never attacked anyone.
