We got four ducklings from the local feed and seed in May. Our poor yellow duckling died after a month. :( Our other three are amazing little characters, and I've really just started trying to figure out what type of ducks they when one started changing colors. Pretty sure he is a male mallard. His colors are getting more vibrant every day. Our second is definitely a female mallard, so that leaves number three.
Our third cutie is a little bigger, has a longer neck, and the bill is shaped a little different. I think the billshape, body shape and neck length, and colors mostly look like a khaki Campbell. But the bill is the wrong color and there is a partial white ring around its neck. Does it look like a khaki Campbell/mallard mix? Or does it look like a mallard/Muscovy mix? Or something else entirely?
Thanks so much for your help!!!

2 Rouens and a khaki campbell imo. Obviously feed stores and hatcheries are different in different areas, but I've only seen them carry Rouens and not Mallards without special order. Rouens look almost identical but tend to be larger and flightless with a few exceptions in their first year where flight may be possible depending on size.

The two smaller ones do fly, but they usually walk. They can make it over my shed and over the chicken coop into the wooded are behind it. They can also fly from my back door out to the chicken coop-about 50 yards. When do Rouens start getting pretty big? Right now, the KC is definitely larger than the other two. They are nowhere near the weight I've read for Rouens, but the likelihood of them being Rouens makes sense. I'm attaching a short video so you can see them in action and get a better idea of their size.

Apparently another difference is that mallards have just one line by their eyes and Rouens have 2.

Have you determined sex yet? Girls quack and boys rasp.
Rouens have two black stripes on their face, one across their eye and one just under their eye. Mallards only have one eye stripe, across their eye. You can tell by the stipes from day olds. From what it looks like, yours only have one stripe, which means mallard.

He looks like a Khaki Campbell drake to me. They can have a small spot of white on the neck or chin. It is not considered a good thing for purebred breeding purposes but wont hurt him. My drake has a small spot of white on his chin too.
My local feed store carried Mallards back in the spring so I agree, based on size, they look like Mallards to me.

Well, we figured the mallards out. The drake's feathers are starting to molt revealing his colors and curled tail feathers. The mallard hen was easy once the drake started changing. Her stripe of blue on her wings has gotten more apparent as his colors have changed. From reading the post after yours, I think the KC is a male. He leads the other two around and will go off by himself a little, but the two mallards always stay together. Once they see he is gone, they take off to find him.
Now I'm worried about having two males. I don't want them to fight.

Thanks! I won't be breeding, so it is good.
