Hi there "Indoorcoup", glad you're back again; there is always something new to learn & share. In the 1980's, I used to be under "save the favs" because of my interest in raising & promoting the banty Blue Salmon Faverolle chicken, did a lot of incubating & hatching of that lovely breed. Now I'm back under a new name, learning new stuff & remembering the old things that I had tried & learned, all over again too.

Below is the sight for raising mealworms indoors with very good information (to feed as chicken treats, but not for garden). It's easy, not messy & inexpensive to start up. I start my first batch in a clear plastic container (like a small shoe size tote), cut a big hole out of the lid & hot glue screen to the inside for air & keeping them in & keeping things out), put a couple inches of wheat bran flakes in, pick up some mealworms (not super worms - they bite) from a pet store, lay some cut carrot & apple slices on the top (take out if they get moldy), & then watch them slowly multiply. Soon you'll have enough to feed to the chickens, they'll love you even more for it. Best wishes.
