Gosh, what a shame.....I count myself so lucky our USPS people always phone at 6am when there are live birds & ask whether I want to come to collect them or whether I want to wait & have them delivered by the postman later that day. Our postman never leaves parcels if we're not in, live or otherwise.

I've never requested to have the hatchery write on the box to call when the chicks arrive, but it's always on the box. I do let my post mistress know that I've got chicks coming, but it's a very small, one-person, rural post office. She even calls me when I get boxes of hatching eggs.

I'm so sorry that happened. Did you call Ideal? What did they say? They are really good to work with you.
