I made a coop, and the roost is rather high, 18 inches off the floor.
I just made a supplemental roost, with a poop board for my young hens (3 weeks old).
They aren't in the coop yet.
I was figuring when they get to the coop, they might need something to climb on in order to jump up to the roost.
Voila.

The little doorway goes into the nesting box area. I'll close that off till they start laying.

Is that a 1x2 on its narrow end for a roost? Unless they are bantams, that is probably too narrow to be cmfortable for them.

They will love things to jump up on, as well as hide under, etc. You can move objects around every few days or so to give them additional stimulation, as they always respond to change with a little fear, or care, or maybe curiosity.

That's pretty great. I also like the linoleum bit - it has to be easier to clean than plywood, especially if you can remove it to hose it down.
