You made more than that, because you don't have to add in the cost of the feed. You have to feed them anyway. At least, that's the way my brother in law's coworker figured it when he was saying he made a 500% profit on his feeder calves when he sold them....
That is great! Who pays $10 for EE eggs? I want to find that type of customer here. I sold mine for $1.50 or $2. If I got $10 from a few I just might make dh happy about having chickens.
We make a small profit from 40 or so hens monthly plus eggs for the family....
Coops and pens were paid for years and years ago....
The chickens pay for their feed and keep and we sell eggs at 2.50 a dozen....
We do not figure in labor because it is just something we do and enjoy caring for our animals....
No we are not fancy, but chickens are healthy and happy....
We sell 1 to 2 dozen eggs a day and feed costs for the month average around 50.00 give or take with 40 hens we go through 100 pounds layer pellets a month plus we buy alfalfa hay and scratch grains once every 3 months or so. So this leaves a nice little nest egg for my daughter Mikayla who claims the cash.
