I may be stuck with a goat I don't want!

I am thinking if I can get her papers she would be a good brood doe for a 4-H kid

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain you don't need papers to have a 4H goat. Fancy show goat, sure, but not 4H - in my area I believe all you need is a vet check letter.

Still....if she's that good, I'm sure someone would be willing to pay $200 for her without the kids. At least in my area they would.

Just so I can learn about goats, can you say why you prefer Oberhasli over LaMancha? I don't know much about goat breeds, but we are interested in getting Oberhaslis some day after going over the breed descriptions.

Okie I live north of Fort Wayne Indiana.

Welsummer the Obes are more mellow and laid back. The are extremely loving goats and don't seem to be as pushy as the Lamanchas I have known. The milk also seems more mild than some of the other breeds. I have to admit that my buck Rolo is my favorite. Stink and all. He turns 1 on April 2nd.

The reason I would like to get the papers also is that some of the older 4-Hers also show in open shows and sell papered stock to adults. If she were to be sold to a kid she could become a potential income for the kids college fund. I know 3 kids who had half their college paid for by the money they earned when in 4-H.

Makes perfect sense. Sorry, I really wasn't trying to come off rude and realized that's exactly how I sounded. I just hate seeing people give up on paperless goats.

Its ok. I realize how it may come off that I was just wanting to get a bunch of money off a free animal.

The woman called me yesterday and totally avoided talk of the goat. She SAYS she is going to come visit her Sat. We shall see. If she does she won't be able to avoid telling me what is going on.
