I may have done a bad thing... is there a way to fix this?

Last night I discovered that one of my Marans/Ameraucana cross eggs was pipped underneath.. When I rolled it over, I saw that it had a big hole, 3/4" long and half an inch wide.. couldn't find any info on this, so I decided that he had been trying to get out for awhile and it might have gotten dry.. Long story short, I ended up taking off the top of the egg since it did seem to be drying out.. I left him halfway on the egg and placed back in the incubator.. This morning he had clearly walked around because the other eggs had moved.. But the shell was still behind him.. so this afternoon I took him out and found that a strand from the egg was wrapped around his leg.. Took that off, but there's still this protrusion on its belly.. Which I'm guessing means I didn't wait long enough.. Will it heal on it's own, or is there something I should do?

I took an egg out earlier that had pipped two days earlier.. Performed an egg autopsy and found that it had died.. So I was trying to be proactive and really wanted these Marans/Ameraucanas.. They are the reason I started the incubator in the first place.. This is only my second from this cross and no movement on the others..

I have two EEs pipping.. I'm going to keep my hands off!!

if all the yolk is absorbed, the protrusion you see is probly where the belly button is closing up, is ALL the yolk is inside, he'll be fine, but if theres still a tiny button of yolk, make sure it stays moist, and about 40ish minutes he'll be right as rain.

thats what I've done anyways

It's probably VERY irritated from not having time to close up, and being rubbed on hatcher ffloor. I would dab some iodine on it and make sure the chick has a paper towel to sit on until it dries up. It should be fine as long as the other chicks don't peck at it, and it has time to dry up completely.

It now looks like some of the protruding part isn't going to make it inside. The "navel" is closing around it. I'm guessing the excess will just drop off eventually?
This chick is acting much better.. Seemed very tired in the incubator and I never saw it walk.. It's now in the brooder box in a small box with paper towels so that it can have a more sanitary place.. He's been trying to jump up and get out to the other chicks. Tried to put another chick with him, but that didn't placate him either.
I dabbed some iodine around the area, but he promptly jumped into the water I offered him to drink

I'll keep him in the box overnight at least.. those other 7 are unbelievably messy.

My 2 pipped EE chicks did hatch tonight while I was outside.. I think they are both blue!

I would isolate the baby and bandage it up, as well as putting some antibacterial ointment on it. Try some bandaging from a pharmacy. Water proof, perhaps? This is what I would do, if I were you. I don't like the idea of that getting infected. Or if it is already infected...

I've been treating the area with iodine with water mixed 50/50.. and then some neosporin.
There had been no change.. But.. this morning, more of the tissue came out.. it's now hanging about to the floor and there's some blood

Is it a lost cause now?

It's bad and getting worse...

Sorry the picture quality is bad, but I think you get the idea. Seems to have stopped bleeding- I don't see any extra blood on the paper towel any way.... That extra fleshy stuff at the top is new- wasn't out of the body this morning. I'm suprised he's still walking around and drinking the water I'm offering.

I'm feeling like a moron, but I've learned my lesson.. no more interfering..
