I may have done a bad thing... is there a way to fix this?

I would leave it alone and wait to see if it heals. I had one hatch similar to this. Everything dried up and eventually fell off. I wouldn't put anything on it, and I'd handle it as little as possible....

Oh dear.

Ok, the thin bit between the two blobs... I'd take a piece of dental floss and tie that off, tight. Then cut the lower blob off, so the weight isn't pulling anything else out, or getting snagged on anything. Then leave him alone, just keep close watch.

Sorry about the chick i've had some like this and none of mine made it they were fine for a few days ate and drank water but then when i thought they were fine they died. Good luck to you.

just an update.. the intestines had come out too much and the chick was not acting good this morning, so I made the decision to put her down. I wish that I would have tried the floss /cutting idea the day before, but you live, you learn..

Thanks everyone for your input... sorry it's not better news... but I do have 7 other healthy chicks from this hatch, and they are doing great.

I'm so sorry you lost your chick. I am going through the same thing right now with one hatched earlier this evening. I have put a bandage around it in hopes that it will absorb it back in and to keep it from pulling it out farther. I'm not sure if it will make it or not, but I am trying till all else fails and I have to cull it. Was is the naval area? That is where mine is. I can't really tell from your picks but I will post one of mine and maybe you can tell if it's the same thing.
