Finally i got some eggs for my first ever broody hen. 6 eggs, because she is so small and her own are quite tiny..
Well it's only day 2, the kids broke one of the eggs yesterday and today I took one of the fertile eggs by mistake. She is religiously holding on to all the eggs in the nest, regardless of all the attention she is getting from everyone. I counted the eggs this morning and removed one extra, thinking it's a new egg, but then another one of the same came in later and i realized my mistake.. there is a slight difference in color and I thought I would be able to tell them apart and was afraid to mark them so not to damage them..
so I messed up, the unfortunate egg was kept in the house in a drawer, I don't refregerate them, for a few hours. I returned it to it's mom, But my chest is all tight with worry and guilt.
Does that egg have any chance?
Also that same hen that has not moved from the nest since yesterday, still layed an egg today. Is that normal?
