Earlier this summer I sold my Black Langshan rooster, Ludwig, because I'm focusing on breeding Blue Australorps. He went to a man who wanted an ornamental lawn flock. Along with Ludwig I sold several hens, including the Light Brahma who was his favorite.
Last night DH and I were driving along a rural back road on our way to our stained glass class. Naturally I look at roadside free-ranging chickens (Doesn't everyone?
), and I spotted a Black Langshan rooster. I opened my mouth to tell DH "There's a Black Langshan rooster," and realized that he was with a big, white hen and then we were past and around a bend before I could be certain.
So, instead, I said "I think I just saw Ludwig!"
I can't possibly confirm it, but it makes me happy to think that I may have seen my beautiful Ludwig, obviously happy and thriving in his new role as a living lawn ornament.
