Ahh! I didn't know you were so close! I'm about 1+ hrs away and I'd so be there right now to steal them away...but I'm already expecting (if they ever come!
) Maybe I can talk DH into getting a few more but since we're first timers we want to see how our first 2 do. Maybe on another hatch.
I'll have more babies coming around the 1st. 2 clutches!
I would SO much rather find them good homes myself than take them to the auction.
i guess if i know the person buying is gonna eat them i can always bid & buy them back, lol.
Muscovies sell really well at auction here... riduculously well.
there was about 30 that came through last weekend and the hens sold for $15-$18/ea and the drakes for $28-$35/ea
there's a few restraunt owners that come through and buy LOADS of eggs, roosters and Muscovies(when they come through). 1 talked to 1 lady that spent $660 on just roosters!!
there is also a guy that buys them for clients that live on lakes, he usually goes for the crested and 'prettier' ducks though.
I can't believe you don't have any takers yet, Bleenie! My Pekins are flying out of here. I have a man that just drove 2 hours for a Pekin DRAKE!!! He should be here in about 5 minutes. Now I'm going to see if I can convince him to buy some more. I can't wait to have Muscovy babies!!!
im pretty astonished too. theres other people aroudn here selling 2 month olds for $15 and theyre selling fast. There's 1 person that wanted me to call when i had some but he plans to eat them so i am TRYING to hold out for a 'pet' home.
It must have been hard to decide between them all- but I think you have chosen the nicer colours- ( sorry to those who didnt manage to hatch the more interesting shades and patterns- ) They are all very cute though. And I hope you do manage to find them a pet home.
