I think that rant was a tad rude.
Some people spell things differently.
You can look in baby naming books! They have all kinds of those.

Ooo, here is an example.
I always spell my brothers name: Jakob, when its really Jacob.

I never ment it in a rude way...

I've even heard people say Mary and Meredith.
