I am working on the genotypes section of my book and need to see a picture or description of a columbian leghorn chick. If anybody has pictures of the chicks please post a pic. I need to see the down color to determine the specific E locus allele found in the birds. If you know of an internet site that has pics, please post.

Do the chicks look like a delaware chick / light sussex or a columbian wyandotte chick?

Sorry no chick pics & I've never had columbian leghorns.

Have you contacted Danne Honour? Failing that Ian Sissons of the British Leghorn Club is a really nice bloke & very helpful.

I assume you've seen these?

In the first link you'll see the paragraph at the bottom the refers to making columbians from silver leghorns (I don't know silver leghorn, is it duckwing?) & black leghorns (eb). If you know silvers that might help.

None of them say the e-allele but if looking at the photo gallery, they tend to look eb. Also the description of the undercolour in the second link sounds eb.

Good luck.

Krys,

I have applied for membership and am waiting for a confirmation by an administrator. Once I am approved I will post at the site and see if I can get a description. I will also email Mr. Sissons

I was thinking eb- due to heavy black hackles but want to see the chick down to make sure.

Thanks

Tim
