It's time for me to get better ones. Right now I have 2 Springfield digital combos ones and they just really STINK!!!

I refuse to do another hatch until I can get better ones. Today is day 21 and I had 2 pips last night, 1 chick this morning and 3 more been trying to get out since this morning. They seem to be sticky and having a hard time getting out. I know this is because of the junk springfields I have. I calibrated both of them several times during hatch and they always came out different. I had to just guess with the humidity! Any suggestion on a good combo or seperate ones? I prefer if somebody has experience with the ones suggested. Thanks!

I tried EVERYTHING that Walmart and all the pet stores in the area sold. I ended up taking them all back; basically, they were all junk. Then a buddy, just to shut up my complaining, gave me a Vicks like the one sold in the ad below. The temperature is always right on, and after the salt/water test, I know that the humidity is 2% off. I really like it.

Looks good! Now, do you lay this right on top of your eggs or on the wire bottom?

I have the Springfield that I believe you speak of. So far, it has worked wonderfully for me. I also have the #3520 from GQF. Both are within just a few tenth's of degrees of each other. I calibrated the hygrometer end of things with the salt and Ziploc method on both of them and they remained within a few percentage points of each other on that as well.

Sometimes I think it's just the luck of the draw on these digital's. I'm going to be saving my pennies for a really good wet bulb type of glass (the kind with the permanent notches) thermometer.

I did see a number of places online that offer the type that are usually used in laboratories and such. Specifications state that they have an accuracy rating of .1 F. If that doesn't put you in the ballpark, nothing will!

I hear that GQF also sells a nice wet bulb type of hygrometer/thermometer combo.

I have two Genesis 1533's, and when I am incubating, the first 18 days I do not use the wire bottom under the egg turner. I only use the wire for the last three days. So, the first 18 days it sits nicely on the outside edge of the egg turner near the turner's motor. The last 18 days it just sits along with the eggs in cartons on the rubber mat that covers the wire.

EDIT: BTW, after I Googled, found it, and told you about it, I went to the website and bought another one just now. I need another for my second incubator.
