what games to play at out womens Christmas gathering this year at church. Which ones do you think would be fun, and which ones you think are lame?

OPINIONS APPRECIATED.

(1)* MUSICAL CHAIRS (hot potato while the music plays - elderly)

(2)* NAME THE PERSON ( you write something about yourself on a piece of paper , person reads paper, and everyone guess who wrote it)

(3)*MUSICAL- MAKE A NEWSPAPER DRESS ON YOUR PARTNER ( newspaper, duct tape, make a dress on your patner till music stops, the best dress wins)

(4)*WHATS IN THE BAG GAME ( pass around paper bag with item in it and folks write down what they believe it is )

(5)*HANDS TIED GAME ( two people with one hand behind back must work together to wrap present, first fully wrapped present wins)

(6)*MEMORY GAME ( Christmas related items on tray passed around, then you must write down what you remember seeing on the tray, most correct wins)

My favorite holiday game is called Dirty Santa! Everyone buys a gift and wraps it, then you count up the number of people playing. If you have 15 people playing then you cut up paper into 15 pieces with a number on each piece and everyone draws. The person that draws 1 gets to select a gift and unwrap it. Then #2 goes - #2 selects a gift and unwraps it now she can either keep the gift she picked or take #1 s gift then #3 selects a gift and unwraps it. #3 can either keep the gift she picked or take #1 or #2 s gift. You keep going until everyone has unwrapped a gift. The person with the highest number basicly has the pick of any gift.

This game is so much fun and there si lots of laughter as people get to swap if they don't like the gift they unwrapped (except poor #1). Everyone gets a gift!!

I played a game called "Nice Words in Your Name" game. A person spells her name on paper, pass it to another person, And think up nice words out of the letters.

Example,

B, Beautiful
E, Enlarged Heart
T, Talented
H, Horribly Nice

what about a scavenger hunt. Depending on the theme you could hide little trinkets or clues to lead to a prize. We had the most fun when we broke into groups and had to find clues. The clues were vague so everyone had a different opinion as to what they ment.

I think the Hands Tied game sounds like the most fun.

Purse game - hostess hands out a list of common and uncommon items found in a person's purse with a point value attached to each. Person with the most points wins. Example:
wallet -10
sunglasses - 15
dental floss - 30
gum wrappers - 5
fresh fruit - 100
crayons - 75
cell phone - 20
etc, etc.

Just for the record, I'm not a fan of party games, especially at wedding or baby showers.

I love the hands tied game idea! The only one I don't like that much is the Name That Person game.

I don't know if you were looking for more game ideas, but my grandmother used to do this one game that was always a big hit at her Independence Day parties, and like the Name That Person game it can help to teach people a bit about each other. She would collect fun facts about each person before the party, then make up bingo cards before the party with different fun facts in the squares. Examples of these fun facts can be things like "I've never been to Mexico," or "I am blue eyed with a brown eyed parent." Sometimes my grandmother would ask that the facts be themed, like one year she asked for facts about prom for a prom themed party, so you could ask for Christmas themed facts about each person if you like. Each person who attended the party would get a bingo card and walk around asking folks to initial one fact that fits them, but they can only initial each card once, even if more than one fact applies. The first person to come up with a completely filled card would win a small prize, and after that every one who manages to completely fill their card could put their card in a bucket for a raffle type drawing for another small prize.

One year I was the only person who'd never been to Mexico, so if I initialed a different space on someone's card who also had the Mexico fact on it, it would be impossible for them to get a completed bingo card! I felt pretty guilty when I realized that, but it was all part of the fun.

Make a board with everyone's name on it. Have a tacky bow to move down the line. Every time someone says "Christmas," move the bow down one name. At the end of the night, the person with the bow gets a prize.

You all have some great ideas!

Oh I know, I definately thought about that, so I figured the older ladies could play hot potato while the music was playing for the chairs, still fun nobody wants to be holding that potato when the music stops
