My chicks are 2 weeks away from the start to lay eggs I didn’t feed my chicks Grower/finisher I fed them Starter/Grower is that a problem?

Chickens don't ever have to be on layer. Main difference between the types of feeds is protein and calcium %s, as well as size of pellet or crumble. Main thing to remember when choosing what to feed is that non layers (young birds, hens that aren't currently laying, roosters) do not need the extra calcium from layer feed.

Not at all. Grower/Finisher is typically 15% to 16% protein, Grower/Starter is typically 18% to 20% protein. Both are low calcium. The actual percents vary some by brand. There are other options available but that's not what you are talking about.

The chart on the feed bag probably says Starter at the beginning, Grower for a while, maybe Finisher for a while, then Layer at a certain point. Again the actual charts will vary by brand.

Those charts are created for the commercial egg laying operations raising the commercial hybrids under commercial conditions. I don't think you are doing that, I'm not. Plenty of people (if not most) on this forum ignore those charts. I don't know what actual percentage protein you specific Starter/Grower is but it is not a problem. It is not going to be ridiculously high or low.

Mine do not all start to lay at the same time, start of lay can vary by weeks or unfortunately a few times, months. When they start to lay they need extra calcium for the egg shells. Some people use Layer (around 4% calcium content) for that but I offer oyster shell on the side. The ones that need the extra calcium for egg shells seem to know that, the ones that don't need it don't eat enough to harm themselves. I offer it on the side, not mixed with their feed so they have a choice.

I do not feed Layer, I stay with 16% Grower forever. Others stick with something with a higher protein content, 18% or 20%. They all work.
