i need advice , probably from a lawyer

It wasn't from a lawyer it was written by one. It was a copy of the original that was filled with the register of deeds back in 1985. Like you I think its a neighbor who has to much time on their hands. I just wanted opinions on my options of they pursued it.

I hope everything works out. And if you or your friend has that car video taping again i would call the police. And soon as you hang up call your local news. Then stuff will get done. For a made up example i call my local police (in a semi rural area) and say someone said they worked for the county and video'd me and my 2 yr old daughter in my yard. He may look for them for a lil while. But if i called the news with the same story there would be every county sheriff deputy and state police looking for the car. I mean its fine for a neighbor not to like chickens (I personally can't stand cats

) but its a felony to pretend to be a public servant. So anyway just my venting and i hope all works out for you and your chickens.

well my friend Google told me:

http://www.springfield-tn.org/municipal_code.pdf

10-102. Animals prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to keep
hogs, cows, swine, sheep, horses, mules, goats, llamas, emus, or any chickens,
ducks, geese, turkeys, or other domestic fowl, cattle or livestock within the
corporate limits unless the property is zoned agriculture and contains five (5) or
more acres.

In the town I just moved from, we were told by the city that if the deed restrictions had not been enforced within a certain number of years then they could not be enforced. It did not take into consideration when the deed was issued.

If you live in the county and outside of the city limits then you will need county laws not the city. Look for a lawyer while you wait for the other shoe to drop. Which would be a letter telling you to get rid of the chickens.

Besides, you live 7 miles outside the city, and I assume on some acreage...who cares what you do with your place?

it didnt state anything other than according to the restrictions placed back in 1985 i cant have chickens. whoever mailed it high lighted that section and put a star by one that says basically just because i didnt know doesnt make it legal. thats paraphrased. its all in legal mumbo jumbo. Basically i have to have written permission from the original property guy ( the developer) to build anything else on my lot. if i dont i could have to tear down the structure. heck if thats the case people are going to be tearing down garages left and right around here. cause i garentee no one got permission they just built.
there are no lots nearby to build on the property was all developed in the mid to late 80's. & the lawyer according to the entire letter was a personal friend of the developer. no contact info. I really dont want to contact the county, if they say its so then the chickens pretty much have to go. But what they diont know wont hurt them. I'm guessing the letter was mailed from a nosey busy body across the street. I've heard he tried to start a HOA before we moved into the area. and his garage is not original to the house. he told me so himself.

Check to see if the deed is online; many places have scanned in all recorded documents. I know I can go to my county's website and find all recorded documents from back into the 1800's to present day.

In another post you said the guy tried and failed to start an HOA. Maybe what he sent was part of his failed effort?
