I Need Chicken Help!!!!

I have two chickens- one hen and one rooster. I live in the suburbs. My mother has been threating to give them to a family friend who lives in the countryside

. The main reason she is doing this is because they leave feces on the porch out back which angers her much. Does any have any suggestions on how to keep them away from this one area. A friend told me that to put lemon juice all over the porch but this does not sound like it would work. Someone please help because she is planning to get rid of them at my brothers party on saturday v.v

It may take a little time & a little work on your part so you'll have to start asap! Quit feeding them treats on or near the porch area if you are doing so. Every time they approach the area shoo them away and reward them when you are at a good distance. Give them treats/rewards only in that designated area and again shoo away if they approach the restricted area. Chickens like many animals are creatures of habit. This worked for me and it didn't take long for the chickens to understand. Yeah they try once in awhile to come up onto our patio when they see us but I immediately shoo them away when they start to approach and they retreat back into their area peacefully. I have 12 chickens and they have 5 acres to roam on, they don't need to explore my patio and can understand where your mother is coming from. Mine get plenty, sometimes too much attention, so I don't feel bad about keeping them off the patio. It's worth a try....Good Luck!

This is a tough one because chickens (in my exp.) like to wander. If I were you I would build a run or at least a truck to keep them away from the off-limits zones.

Also, I would recommend that you put something a little more specific on your subject line. It will probably help you get more views.
