I need computer help with tabs

Somehow a setting has been change on my puter, everytime i click on a forum topic it opens a new tab leaving me with a cascade of open tabs by time i am done reading different topics.
I can not even go back and edit a topic for spelling as when i click on edit it opens another tab.
I am sure it is a simple fix but there are to many place i could make a mistake trying to fix it.

PS i need simple instructions, if you give me the history of tabs with the fix i will never get it, got problems with my brain mixing things up in my head when i read to much at one time.

I asked my DH about this and he says:

1. Click on "preferences" in your browser options
2. Click on the "tabs" option
3. Where it says "open pages in tabs instead of windows" select "Never"

P.S. My DH wants to know if you have antivirus software. A virus may also cause this to happen.

Also, when you edit or spell check and it opens that new tab...when you are finished editing/checking and hit the close button at the bottom of the screen like you normally would, it should close that tab too and take you back to your window.


Sumi - isn't it great having a computer "geek" for a husband! I know just enough about computers to be dangerous sometimes.

Thank you , got it fixed, i have a good antivirus program, just need one for DH cause he does things and don't remember how he done it. LOL
