I got 3 pairs of old English bantams during summer, I built each pair there own 4ftx4ft wire pens with just tin weighted down on the top to keep the rain off. Not the Best pen/coop design but it worked okay for the summer. Kept the birds dry and safe. but now that winter is here I need a better solution, was thinking about attaching a 55gallon barrel to each pen to act as a better shelter form wind/ and elements. Barrel doesn't give much room, but they are Just a pair of bantams. And I see some people use barrels and tie cords for gamefowl...wanted some opinions on if someone has tried this or if you'd think it'll work?? Any advice would be appreciated.

I quickly built a temporary coop, using pallets, to keep a few of my birds out of the elements this winter. It's just a temporary solution until I can build them a proper coop..again, using pallet wood. I have over 125 pallets I've collected over this year for projects like this.
