Ok so I am planning on buying a Pekin duckling and I was wondering if one do these ducks smell bad so I cant keep them inside due to the smell and two I live in Florida so can I keep it in my garage without a heat lamp or do I still need one??? I have never had a duckling so I am REALLY scared and need some facts about them ASAP!!!😬😁

Well the common wisdom seys to always keep ducks in pairs at the least. Its natural instincts for them to be in pairs and being alone can cause depression and destructive behaviors

But to keep a duckling healthy it needs a heat source it can get under when its cold, like a heatlamp

90 degrees for the first week and 5 degrees less every week untill its room tempurature

They NEED chick or duckling starter crumbles to grow properly 24/7

They NEED a dish of water a few inches deep 24/7 and atleast a small bucket of water 24/7 as adults

They cant be potty trained, they are birds so they poop very often, and ducks intake alot of water so its mainly watery poop. And i swear they can poop twice their body length

Females can be loud

Thats all i can think of but ask all the questions you need. I highly recomend not having a single duck or any indoor duck... but if you feel you have too than atleast keep it healthy :)

Yes, at least 3 ducklings is best. If you're scared, wait and do lots of research first. Your animal depends on you and it's best to be completely prepared before taking on such a responsibility.

Ducklings are flock animals they should be with other ducks to live a happy healthy life, keeping just one IMO is cruel. Yes, ducklings stink,no matter your setup they are going to stink, to an extent . Whats your daytime\nightime temps averaging ?
Ok thanks!!! Day time here averages from about a high of 80-90 and a low of 70-75. Is the smell really bad or could it be contained with cleaning everyday?

I'd wait till they around four weeks before I would put them in those temps. Just make sure they are in a draft-free area. Well, I could tell you, I just had four ducklings in the house and I had to clean two times a day and it still stunk. There are some ways to reduce the smell such as a water catcher under the waterer or some people swear by using absorbent horse pellets as bedding. Many ideas on here just type in "Duck brooder setup"
