I made a post about this about 5 hours ago, and I haven’t gotten any replies. My silkie chick who hatched 3 days ago on both of her/his feet the third toe seems to be deformed. I tried putting the back into place, but they’re curled upwards, she seems to be struggling to move around, and she dosent have nails on either of the toes that are affected. I havent seen her in a bit, but does anyone know how I could help. She has all 5 toes (silkie) but its just those 2 that seem to be bothering her. Thank you!

I want to say that it would but the toes are curled directly upward not in. I have tried maneuvering them, but nothing has seemed to help.

I couldn’t find anything quite like it, but imagine a chick toe but curling up towards its head, except the toe is half the size of all the other, and doesn’t have a nail.

Does the chick seem otherwise healthy? I have some hens who were born with foot defects. They eventually figured out how to move well despite the deformed toes.

If the toes (and resulting mobility issues) seem to be the chick's only problem if it were me, I'd hand feed/water to make sure the chick is getting enough nutrition and see what happens over the next week or two.

Are any of the other chicks picking on it?

It has 1 other chick in there at the moment they seem to be doing fine together, but he seems to be quite a bit smaller, but otherwise pretty healthy, he’s chirping, eating drinking, just struggling with getting around, he should have 3 more siblings in a bit!

I think that watching and waiting at this point is probably your best bet. Eating and drinking is a good sign.

How are you providing heat? My only other concern would be if the chick can't get to (or away from!) the heat and could either get chilled or overheated.
