Ok so I recently noticed one of my hens started losing some of her feathers. I was originally convinced that she was starting to molt. Ive had her now for just about a year so the timing seemed right. I have another hen though, who Ive had for about the same time. I have a hunch the other is younger. That one is not losing ANY feathers. The one that IS losing her feathers though has started acting differently considering she used to be the "alpha" in my coop. Since ive noticed the missing sections of feathers, ive seen my other hen picking at the bare spots on my other hen. Im not sure if this is a normal behavior for hens and am concerned that my "picking" hen might be doing serious harm to my other one. What should I do? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.:(

Have you checked her all over for lice/mites? What do you feed? Do you have a Rooster? There is a product called Blu-Kote that will help stop the other hen from picking at her. You might have to separate them until the problem is resolved.
