on becoming a parent to a fluffy butt!!!!! dont bother feeding or watering it untill it is dry and out of the incubator then they can last for up to 48 hours without food as they absorb the egg yolg when they hatch, i just use a shallow dish with water no deeper than 1 cm otherwise it may drown, for food buy chicken crumbles from your local feed store but make sure you buy the medicated one as it helps them fight disease in the future... oh and give it a teddy to cuddle up with to keep it warm along with the heat lamp

If you don't have any feed yet you can give chopped scrambled egg until you can get some feed. Any small dish that they can get their head into will work for a aterer, until you can get 1. Just make sure to put marbles, stones, glass pebbles, etc into the dish to prevent them from getting into it and drowning. any clean small objects will work! I like marbles or glass stones. The chicks will peck at all the colors and find the water faster! I just dip their beak into the water when I first place them into the brooder. Then again in about 15 minutes just to make sure they remember where and what it is. They will sleep in all kinds of strange and funny positions, so be ready to be scared silly when you find them in the brooder all looking dead!!! LOL They are so fun to watch. You wont need TV for a while!!

Good luck and God Bless!
