I need help now!

can the symptoms look like vent gleet? because that’s what I thought it was at first. Or is it possible she has a prolapsed vent, vent glee, and fly strike?

Same hen as in the link below?

Did you not bring her in and take care of the prolapse?

Please post some photos of the vent.

The maggots need to be removed. Bring her in and give her soakings/flush the maggots off her. Get pictures so we can see what's going on.

1 Yes, my hen pepper has been having quite a few problems lately.
2 I have tried to take care of the prolapse but it keeps coming back out. Do you know how to stop this?
3 I have flushed out all the maggots I can see and I had soaked her for about 20 minutes early that day.
4 I will get pictures when I do this again today but I have to wait until my family gets home so they can help.

thank you all for all the help and information!

Keep the exposed tissue moist with honey, anti-inflammatory ointment, prep H, vaseline, etc. don't let it dry out. Sometimes there's a lot of swelling and the tissue won't stay in, so you'll have to be patient with that. Soaking a couple of times a day in a warm epsom salts bath may help reduce the swelling too - make sure to put your ointment back on there after the soaking.

Keep her hydrated/drinking. I would also give her some calcium - you can give a TUMS or 1/2 tablet Caltrate. This helps with contractions/retention of the oviduct.

Keep her separated out so no more flies get on the exposed tissue and lay eggs.

Thank you so much, you have been very helpful!

my family and I are scheduled to go camping in two days do you think it will be okay for a few days? I guess all just wait and see, but do you have any tips for super quick recover? Any would be helpful!
