The good ol hubby loves how Silver Sebrights look. But Ive pretty much decided that its too hard to find any. I cant have adult birds shipped to my area. So I would have to find some around here, which seems to be close to impossible. (Ive been looking for 2 years). I also hear that they are not very healthy birds to keep. A breeder or two told me that they get sick easy, dont mate well, or lay well. And half the eggs they do lay dont hatch. So I decided to try to substitute my hubby's personal choice of breed.

I would like to get something close to what he likes so he will still enjoy them. So can someone help me find a breed close to the silver sebrights?

There are other breeds that come in the silver laced pattern like the Sebrights. I know there are silver laced polish, silver laced wyandottes, and silver laced cochins.

Polish:

Wyandotte:

Cochin:

I have never had any Wyandottes, but I have both Cochin and Polish chicks that are about 4-5 weeks old. I love them! Both of these breeds have done well here.

I dont think its as much as the color that he loves as it is the shape of the bird. He wants a tight, small bird that looks very sharp in appearance.

And I already have some silver laced polish

Look at the different bantam chicks without feathered legs and you may find something you guys like that's small.

I want a silver laced Polish. I am jealous.

I have a white crested black Polish, two buff laced Polish, and two white crested blue Polish. I love them all, but my black one is the beauty of the lot!
