I would use molasses if you can find it. Believe it or not, it is actually beneficial, with vitamins and minerals, and the lowest sugar content of any other cane sugar product. Plus, it is much more digestible than more refined sugars.Ohhhh alrighty then can I give them sugar with water?

Molasses has been an animal feed and health products for decades, and it is still used today.
