Yesterday at around 5 pm my husband told me one of my EE pullets was probably going to die. Upon walking out to the coop, he was holding her and told me he found her hanging, upside down, on one of the wire hooks that we hang their water and food from. Don't ask me how she got up there.... She has a hole about the size of a pencil eraser on the inside of her leg right where it meets her body. The strange thing is, there was no blood, but you could actually see right into her body. I don't think it hit anything major inside though. I immediately brought her inside and put neosporin on it, and put her in the brooder to try and nurse her back to health. She is, however, unbalanced on that leg and I'm wondering if she broke it. She keeps her toes folded under and has a hard time standing, using her wings to balance herself, but she is eating and drinking. She is laying down for the most part. Is there anything else I can do for her? Do you think she'll make it, or am I looking at the sadness of her dying? She's only 8 weeks old, and I almost lost her once as a baby because she was so small compared to the others, but managed to keep her alive. I will be heart broken if she does die....
