I NEED HELP very very very Fast "CHAMP"

Quote:
If it just hatched dont mess with it-leave it alone and the bator-the humidity will get all messy with openeing it alot. If it stays like that until the mornig then MAYBE you can pop it in. The chick needs to stay in bator with the moisture-the moisture and humidty will help the tiny bit of yolk sak absorb and "slip" back in...

I had one like that the yolk will absorb. what don't will dry up and fall off. don't keep it wet , don't pop it , just let it dry up and fall off on its own.

Just an update everyone. The chick is still alive. I had to do somethings without checking BYC so I am sure some of it was a no-no. I was watching it in the bator.... it was the only chick/egg I had in there. as it would chirp it would push more and more of the egg yolk out of its belly. it got to the size of a large marble and I was worried it wouldn't end.... so I took the little guy out and got it under a heat light... I gently helped bush it back in and it went pretty easy.. wasn't hard at all to get its little tummy around it.... but I had to keep my finger there or when it would chirp it would start coming out again.... Finally I did something that I am sure is a no-no, but i took a little dab of super glue and put it on it after i had it in all the way. This quickly dried and then the chick could chirp till its heart was content and it wouldn't budge! I now have him back in the bator... he is still breathing and chirping... but it doesn't want to open its eyes, it doesn't lift its head up or get on its feet at all... I dont know if this is normal or not.... but I am hoping this one survives.... it will have a thread about it for sure.

The chick is a frizzle bantam buff laced polish from baregretchen and out of all of them this is the only one that got to this point.... this had nothing to do with the quality of eggs, but rather my stupidity and a LG styrafoam incubator.... anyway this is the only one I have a chance with and as a lot of you may know... they aren't cheap eggs/birds.

I will keep you updated on what happens

In answer to a previous question.... the yolk isnt absorbed by the vent, but rather a hole close to the vent but more on the belly. So it might look like it is coming from the vent but it is not.

Update: The little one is still kicking... Champ is now able to lift his head and walk a few steps before getting tired and laying back down... Champ is peeping quite a bit more now as well... this bring up a new question. When it walks it looks like it isn't up on its toes but uses his whole bottom part of his leg to walk around... I have seen previous posts where they are way walking bad and then need to be culled, but i wondered if when they are very weak at first if it isnt right from the start walking right up on its feet... I haven't noticed it with any of my other chicks, but i hadn't look closely at them either.... is this normal?

I have had some chicks walk like that for the first few days just leave him be, they usally start running around day 3 for me after they have walked like that, but all babies are differnt and with him having a rough time he just might need a bit more time to figure it out. I had a baby goat born the other day after 2 hours of trying to get him out because he was tangled up with his twin, his twin was fine and went to nursing in no time, but the other is very slow, in many ways it took him 4 days to nurse his mom I had to force feed him but he got the hang of it...I think it was lack of oxygen...lol But my point is some get the brains some don't so don't cull just because he is a little slow, give him time first. Good Luck Girl!!

I for sure wont cull it. I am just hoping that with all the trauma that he may have had that he is going to have some kind of disability.... but I guess they do this all the time.... hopefully it will be fine.

This morning she/he is more fluffy and chirping a lot more... in fact it kept us up last night so I grabbed one of my kids little stuffed animals and but it in the bator with her, and that seemed to do the trick.... I am hoping all goes well while I am at work today
