I need help with my nesting boxes

My ladies are about to start laying. They have 200sq ft of coop, but I am stumped on how many nesting boxes and how to make them. You may check out my coop at www.homeschoolblogger.com/cheprbyddozn please give me advice.

How many hens do you have that are going to be laying eggs?

One nesting box for every 4 hens is about right.

1 nest for every 4 chickens is what I've been told. I made my nesting boxes out of milk crates. They sit on a shelf with a 2x3 nailed to each of the shelf with a thinner 3 1/2" pine board nailed to the front so that the eggs won't roll out. I've also added a slanted board above the nesting boxes so that the birds don't roost on them (or they would be covered with poop). Here's a photo...
