Today was just a bad day for me

and when I got home to check on my chickens, I looked at my roo. I have posted about this earlier, but he has either a very dry comb/wattles or favus. His wattles are just very flakey and they can be easily torn off with no blodd coming. He has some dirt on them too . He was also bleeding. My day just does not seem to be getting any better.

I am really confused on what I should do about my roo. So, my questions are...

1. Is this favus?
2. If Favus what do I do if it is favus?
3. Is this dry comb/wattles instead of favus?
4. What do I do if it is just dry comb/wattles
5. What do I do about the bleeding. (it is not major blood just a little)

Thanks.

If its white and flake, its most likely favus

You treat it with, yeast infection cream, or anti-fungi crem

a tip: Dont glob it on, (the hens will pick it off) Possible seperate him for a day or two until theres no blood and you can put the cream on without the others picking at it.

(it will take time.) If you deside to keep him in the flock, Put a thin layer on the comb and waddles, so it doesnt stick out and they dont peck at him.

Dang, I was hoping it wasn't favus. Well, better to catch it I guess.

I think i'm gonna keep him in the flock but put a thin layer on him. I would seperate him but I have no pen for him.

Thanks for helping though!

Favus is a fungus; don't get cream for a yeast infection, get cream for fungus (athlete's foot cream, but read the label, be sure it is antifungal.) Cream will exxentially disappear when you rub it in a little, which ointment won't. If it's not favus, it won't hurt him, and the cream base will help with any dry skin problem.

Easy way to deal with blood when you want to keep the chicken with the flock (always best, if possible, IMO) is spray bloody spots with BluKote.
