Picked up these chicks at the farm store today. I think the brown is about 3wks and the black around 5wks. I am new to chickens and have 4 pure bred 12wk pullets already. I am hoping you guys can help me figure out breed and sex. The brown is supposed to be pullet but the black is unknown.

The black one has LONG tail feathers. Does that mean it may be a cockerel?
Nope, both sexes can have longer tail feathers especially when younger. The comb is small and not red, so I believe it's a pullet.

Or brown Leghorn and Austrolorp. You'll know if it's a welsummer or leghorn when the earlobes are more evident. Welsummers have red and Leghorns have white.

The first is definitely a pullet (that's a female only color pattern) and the second also looks female.

I always forget about brown leghorns, good point.
