My white hen bathed for over any hour in a mud puddle, more mud than water. I thought after a few days she would be clean again, well she isn't.

The weather is supposed to be in the 70's this weekend & I want to give her a bath, but don't know what I should use. I certainly don't want to put anything on her that will harm her.

Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Thanks so much, Debbie

I use baby shampoo for my Leghorns. Makes them nice and soft and then I dry them with a hairdryer afterwards. I've always wanted to dry a silkie with a hairdryer!

If you can find Cowboy Magic( Yellow Out at TSC or your local feed store) that gets them looking really clean and is what I use or you can dilute some Dawn dishwashing liquid and use that if you want to get the mud off.

OK, so the dawn won't hurt them? I am so new at this, I lost one baby this week. I don't know what I would do if something else happened.

Thanks, at this point I will try anything. She is so beautiful, well, when she is clean that is.

Debbie

There is dog shampoo for white dogs that takes out the yellow coloring. Dawn wont hurt, isnt that what they wash the animals with at the oil spill sites.
