Every book that I have says that the first 18 ays the humidity should be at 58 to 60% and the temp should be at 99.5 for a forced air bator. I live in riverside ca. we have low humidity here any way, where should the humidity be for the first 18 days, some of you told me that I should keep it at 45% the first 18 days, is that what I should do, hopefully my eggs will be here thursday and friday I can put them in the bator.

Jenny, if you just keep it within a range of 40-50% the first 18 days, you wont drive yourself nuts. If it goes to 52%, don't go crazy, just let it come back down naturally. If it goes to 37%, don't panic, just add a tiny bit of water. You'll go nuts trying to keep it at one number.

That's how I do my humidity. I try to keep it close to 50% but usually don't add water until it drops below 40%. If it happens to go lower before I catch it,no big deal. If it goes to 555 or 60 right after I add the water, again,no big deal.
