I need HELP!

I went back to check on them last night after work and they are gone from the tree. They did not touch the corn I left out in the tent for them. I searched around the bush but I could not seee them. I went back this morning and still no sign of them. the bush is about 5 acres square and backs on to a plowed field. Another problem is the people that live there have 3 dogs who roam around the bush. Should I keep looking every day or just give up? I'm so sad because I've waited two years for my guy to grow his tail. This is making me sick!

If they flew to get away from you they can get away from dogs. Put out flyers around the neighborhood there's still a chance they'll turn up put an add in the local newspaper. Don"t give up yet. By the way sorry your having such hard luck.

Never loose hope... never!!!!!! hang in there.. what you can do.. instead of loosing hope... is keep food out... keep water out, keep their pen open.. or what you housed them in.. open.... and I like the idea of another peahen or something.. to attract them back.

That to me makes alot of sense.

I have lost parrots.. even for a couple of months.. I dont know about peafowl as I am new to this..but in the large parrot world.. and they are some amazing flyers.. when loose.. they stay within a mile radius for up to a month.. I wonder if that might be true about peafowl??? their all birds to me.

You have had them locked up for quite sometime.. so hang in there... they may come home..

How old are they now? and how old were they when you first got them? were they babies?????

good luck and praying for their safe return.

They were 8 months old when I got them and their a little over 2 years old now. I had to keep them in a coop with an outdooor run because I have a border collie who would chase and kill them. I spent this winter ordering supplies to build a big outdoor avairy that I was going to put up beside our backyard deck so we could watch them from the house (actually this was the weekend that I was going to build it). I searched again last night after work in the bush for them but did'nt see them. I will start to put up flyers and let the neighbours know that their missing. I am keeping the coop door open but I think their so far away now that they probably won't come back. I thank you for all your suggestions and concern. I'll keep trying and let you know how I make out.

Geat News! My neighbour who lives 5 mile away saw some friendly "pheasants" in her back yard, she started to call around and another neighbour told her they were mine and to try to get them into a building...she did! Then she called my husband and he went to round them up. I guess it was quite a gong show trying to catch them in the shed but their back at home now...missing a few feathers but no worst for the wear! Thanks for all your advice. BTW my stomach ache has disappeared. lol

WHOO--HOOOO!!!!!! SO HAPPY FOR YOU!

Yes, Fort Knox is the way to go.

Everybody thought I was crazy but after I went through that w/Romeo & then Vishnu, I had the new pen designed with NO exterior entrance whatsoever. The only way to get inside of it is to go through the outer run & through the chicken's yard. And have a key to the lock on the chain. Yes, it's inconvenient when I'm lugging feed & water back & forth, but I don't care. They are as safe as I can make them. And they are worth it to me.
