I need help

The Delaware in front, with the redder comb showing that her hormones are flowing, looks close to laying, the next one, with a paler comb, could take a while longer. The others I don't see enough of the combs to tell. Sometimes when it gets to late fall and the days are short, a pullet will delay starting till the days get longer. I think that is what happened with yours. And the days are getting noticeably longer now.

I have Delawares, for the first time, and mine hatched the first week of June and did not start laying until mid January. Once started, they have laid fairly regularly. They are a heritage dual purpose breed, and those birds do take longer to make maturity and lay eggs. Unlike, a laying breed that often starts laying close to 4-41/2 months.

I agree, that the red comb is a good sign. And that the length of daylight makes a difference.
