Family and friends helped build this coop from scraps they could get during pandemic. It was made with a lot of

love. Everyone had ideas that were put into it. I love the open design and in Texas heat it really helped with keeping the girls cool. I am looking for ideas to close in the back roost / nesting area but not sure what to do? I need space to walk around inside. Does anyone have any suggestions? First photo is most current one.

It looks fine the way it is. But to winter proof it, just get some plywood to cover the side exterior wall to prevent rain from blowing inside. Then in spring remove the plywood and keep your open design.

Yes, I agree.

If plywood isn't available, you can use tarps on the sides -- leave the front and some of the top of the side walls open for ventilation.
