In one of my homemade incubators, I use a ReptiTemp 500r and in the other I use a water heater thermostat. The water heater thermostat does the job for me personally, but if you want to be extra precise then I highly recommend the ReptiTemp 500r over the wafer thermostat.
hey I appreciate the tip but I keep getting 100% hatches with the wafer type in both my hovabator and a coupla homemade incys. I have done equally as well using a johnson controls electronic type t-stat. I tweaked one WH type t-stat to where it worked well but for the effort I expended I am money ahead with the wafer.
I went ahead and ordered the reptitemp tstat. I figured I might as well try it, darn Amazon 2 day shipping. For those who use it, is it better to put the sensor near the light bulbs or in where the eggs go? Thanks.
