We have 9 wonderful hens; 4 Barred Rocks, 3 Amber Links and 2 Black Australorps. There names are:
Beulah
Beatrice
Dot
Rachel
Geraldine
Jeanette
Jewel
Edna
Hazel

All of which are named after mine and my wife's grandmothers and their sisters.

Our first 4 chickens were Blanche, Rose, Dorothy and Sophia after the golden girls. (Golden Comets)
Then we got Alice and Claire, named after the stars of Resident Evil. (also Golden Comets)
Then Stripes (because she was chipmunk striped as a chicklet) and Little Bit (because she was a runt) (both RIRs)
Then Molly and Arrianne, after the Fallen Series books. (Both mystery breeds)
And now Daniel and Pennyweather Van Sycle Lockwood, also after the fallen series. (Both Buff Orpingtons)

I tend to name after books, movies and tv shows. With the exception of Stripes and Little Bit, which neither fit their names now, that my husband named. We've named every one we brought home, these are just the ones we kept.....

Speckles, my rooster, crowed today in celebration of our RIR hen's first egg! (I think it was the RIR!) It was Speckles first crow!! Atcually, he crowed, like, 4 or 5 times!! Of course, this means we have to give him away. I am gonna cry like a baby when we have to.

I love him so much! Soon I'll post a pic of the egg!
