This started off as what I was told was a "summer cold" runny nose...and some sneezing/coughing....especiallywhen drinking water....now thisone eye has swollen up so badly he can't see...it isn't hard...it feels like water or fluid...can anyone give me some advice? I've used Terra Vet 10...it seemed to work at first but now...I don't think its making a difference. Please help.

Most of the time respiratory infections are secondary infections that are caused by something else like worms or cocci. Have a fecal float exam done by any vet and treat the real cause of the problem, not the symptom.

inject 1/2 ( half) a cc of " Tylan 200 " directly into the inflammed area. Make sure that you do not poke the needle into the eyebal. You can buy "Tylan 200 " on amazon on line without a prescription. Tylan comes in two strengths , 50 and 200. I have successfully treated sinus inflamation in 100% of cases using Tylan 200. single injection took care of the inflamation in 3-4 days. If necessasary give another dose on the 3rd or 4 th day. Respiratory illness in peafowl. I used enrofloxin one cc per day 4 days in a row, orally and cured the illness completely To be safe, I diluted enrofloxin 1cc with 1 cc of water just before feeding to avoid toxic effect if any, in the stomach. Enrofloxin is another name for Baytril . You need a prescription from a vet to purchase baytril. and you don,t need one for enrofloxin. which you can buy on line from"lady gouldian finch.com.

I have done this three times and every time the face blows up really bad. It eventually gets better, but beware that it might get really ugly in the short term. I am not saying not to do it, just beware that it might look worse after the shot.

Here is a case in point;

Saw this yesterday, took a sample in to the vet today for a Fecal Float, high cocci load. Chick has never been on dirt, still on wood chip covered cement floor inside brooder.
