Hi,
I posted the other day about my 4 eggs that were abandoned by their momma and I tried to save by putting them in a homemade incubator because it was all I could do at the time.
Well, the other day I had to assist a chick hatch... she lived for about a day and then passed in her sleep.
Two days ago another egg began with her external pip, began zippering but made very little progress. After over 24 hrs I decided to see if I could help her because the membrane was drying around her. I noticed the veins not receding at all. I put her back in the incubator with a damp paper towel wrapped around her and left her over night. Today, still the veins hadn’t receded at all and the was a bit bloody. I tried putting a cool damp towel on those spots to stop the bleeding, and put her back in the incubator. We had to go out for a few hours and when I came home, I found a beautiful healthy chick had hatched out of another egg, but other chick wasn’t doing good at all. She managed to get mostly out of her egg, but it looks like something is really wrong, and I’m not sure if the yolk sac ruptured or if this is something else all together?? Please help! I’m not sure if there is anything I can do for her, but I put her in a clean damp paper towel and put her back in the incubator.
